Beginner-friendly hanging clay oil diffusers with subtle seaside-inspired vibes.
In this project, I’m working with DAS stone-colour air dry clay to create two seaside-inspired heart oil diffusers. I love balancing my resin work with clay, as it allows for a softer, more natural texture and feel.
These heart shapes are simple to make and beginner-friendly, making them a lovely handmade gift or a creative project to try at home. Using a seashell to roll texture into the clay gives each piece a subtle coastal pattern, and I’ve added a couple of small shell for an extra seaside touch.
Tip: You can texture the clay (rolling the shells across the surface) before cutting out your shapes – I didn’t this time, as I tend to think and plan as I create — it’s just the way I work.
Once finished and fully dried, the clay can hold a few drops of your favourite essential oil, creating a gentle natural scent when hung in a room.
In this first part, I’ll show you how I shape and texture the hearts before leaving them to dry (at least 3-4 days). In part 2, I’ll share how I finish and prepare them ready for scent.
These clay heart diffusers make thoughtful handmade gifts, especially for seaside lovers or anyone who enjoys natural home fragrance.
